George Hendrik Breitners „Blick auf den Oosterpark“ ist eine heitere und stimmungsvolle Darstellung des Oosterparks in Amsterdam, aufgenommen in Breitners charakteristischem impressionistischen Stil. Die Komposition hebt das sanfte Licht hervor, das durch die Bäume fällt, und die friedliche Stimmung des Parks, die die Schönheit der städtischen Natur widerspiegelt. Der Winter 1892 war außergewöhnlich streng. Vom Atelier seines Freundes Witsen aus konnte Breitner den schneebedeckten Oosterpark (damals im Bau) sehen, der in einem neuen Stadtteil von Amsterdam lag. Am Horizont sind typische hohe Häuser aus dem späten 19. Jahrhundert zu sehen. Breitner, der immer knapp bei Kasse war, soll dieses Gemälde gegen ein Fahrrad eingetauscht haben, anstatt es über den Händler zu verkaufen, bei dem er einen Vertrag hatte.
