Gustav Klimts "Mäda Primavesi", geschilderd tussen 1912 en 1913, is een portret van de jonge Mäda Primavesi, afgebeeld met een levendige en decoratieve achtergrond die kenmerkend is voor Klimts stijl. De compositie benadrukt de zelfverzekerde houding en uitgebreide jurk van het jonge meisje, met Klimts gebruik van ingewikkelde patronen en felle kleuren die een gevoel van luxe en verfijning toevoegen. Dit schilderij weerspiegelt Klimts vermogen om portretkunst te combineren met ornamentale kunst, waardoor een werk ontstaat dat zowel persoonlijk als visueel opvallend is. Mäda Primavesi's uitdrukking en houding geven een opmerkelijke mate van zelfvertrouwen voor een negenjarig meisje, zelfs een die, naar eigen zeggen, eigenzinnig en een jongensachtig meisje was. Klimt maakte talloze voorlopige schetsen voor dit portret, waarbij hij experimenteerde met verschillende poses, outfits en achtergronden voordat hij besloot om Mäda rechtop te laten staan in een speciaal gemaakte jurk te midden van een overvloed aan lenteachtige patronen. Het schilderij getuigt van de verfijnde smaak van haar ouders, bankier en industrieel Otto Primavesi en zijn vrouw Eugenia, die fervente aanhangers waren van progressieve Weense kunst en design. Klimt schilderde al snel Eugenia's portret (Toyota Municipal Museum of Art, Japan).
